Cat Lake, Pebbleshoo, & Squamish
Day 68: Squamish, BC
Wednesdays are work days, but before I settled into wifi, we shared morning coffee with Leigh and Spring of Pebbleshoo – a blog that John has been following since 2013. These two were a major inspiration for our trip, and we love their philosophy about challenging yourself in the outdoors. They were so kind, and chatted with John throughout the morning – even after I had to get to work. They were some of the coolest people that we’d met on the whole trip and we were so appreciative of the time they spent with us.

The Cloudburst Coffee shop was comfy, but their wifi sucked and it was a super hot day. I called it quits around 3:00pm in favor of finding a lake to swim in. Cat Lake was about a mile down the road. When we arrived, we found a lively party with people swimming, floating and enjoying the sunshine. We blew up our tubes, jumped in the water, and joined the revelry. It wasn’t long before we met a group of friend who convinced us to stay the night at the campsite…or at least in the parking lot of the camp. We had so much fun getting to know them & even went night swimming together. John and I found a floating log in the middle of the lake, and spent a few magical moments alone, laying on a floating log in the middle of the lake, staring up at the stars in a perfect night sky. That night, we took the tarp out, slept in the open air, gazing deep into the sky.
Day 69: Squamish, BC > Vancouver, BC > Whistler, BC
Woke up at Cat lake and it was cleaning day! Between dishes in the lake, to filling up water from a stream to laundry at the laundromat, and grocery shopping to stock the fridge – that took up most of our day. Then, it was time for me to drive down to Vancouver to pick up Ms. Arielle D, who offered to pay me $250 to shuttle her to Whistler. I got to have a fantastic dinner with Jamie and Sharon Dick who were in Vancouver visiting. Then, the ride back to Whistler was good for my heart. I miss my San Francisco girls! We got back at 2am. John and I slept on the streets in a fancy neighborhood of Whistler.
